LAX to San Diego Chauffeur Service
A hundred and twenty miles, and honestly about two and a half hours, which makes this the longest route we publish and, once the empty drive back is counted, most of a working day for one vehicle. The way down is the 405 south to the 5, or the 605 first when the 405 has already gone. Two stretches decide the time. The 405 through Orange County is one, and it rarely needs a reason. The other is south of Oceanside, where border-bound traffic loads the freeway and a run that was going well stops going well. Between them the drive is genuinely good, and through Camp Pendleton the freeway carries the Pacific on the right for long enough that people stop working and look at it.
Fly into San Diego if you can. SAN has real route breadth, it sits a few minutes from downtown, and on almost any comparison it beats landing at LAX and driving south for half a day. We have no San Diego airport page to protect and no interest in talking you out of the better option. This page is for the travellers that option did not cover: a fare that made Los Angeles the only sensible ticket, a schedule that worked out of LAX and nowhere else, an arrival from abroad that landed here, or a connection that was simply never offered. If that is you, this is the last stretch of a journey you have already mostly finished, and it is worth handing over rather than hiring a car for. We run to the Gaslamp and the downtown hotels, to the Convention Center for events large enough to fill every room in the city, to La Jolla, Del Mar and Coronado, and out to UCSD and Torrey Pines. Six seats, six bags, one vehicle for the whole distance, a fare settled before you travel and a chauffeur confirmed in advance. CPUC regulated, TCP #45621-A.
